John Tyler's DAILY devotional Schedule:

Some of my FAVORITE Bible Verses

The FIRST thing I do is go to the Daily Devotional found by clicking on the GO BUTTON in the right-hand column.  There, I read what the inspiration for today will be. The reason I do that, is because God speaks to me through His words ...either through Bible reading, words from someone else, or He just puts thoughts into my head (because His Holy Spirit lives within me). This reading takes about 4 minutes.   Matthew 6:33

"But I want you to first seek ME, and my righteousness, and if you do - all of these other things (food , clothing, shelter, and your daily budget needs) will be provided to you by ME."

Next, I love Dr. Charles Stanley's messages, so I migrate over to his website, and listen to his audio messages.  This takes about 20 minutes.   Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your paths."

Finally, when that is over, I kneel at my sofa in the office and pray. I don't approach God as if He is a "cosmic Santa Claus"...with "gimme - gimme - gimme" stuff.  Instead, I acknowledge - with total respect, who He is, and He is the one who spoke this planet and galaxies into existence...That's pretty powerful, so fixing my problems should be no problem, right?  I revere (respect) God, and I love Him because He loved me enough to send His son,  Jesus to die on a horrible cross for my crumby sins.  Because Jesus did this for ME, I love Him, and KNOW that only He can forgive sins because only He paid for them. So, one day, I asked Jesus to come into my life and save my rotten soul from hell.  You can do it, too...just click on the GO BUTTON and I will bring you to a place where you can read about Salvation and specifically HOW you can also ask this Jesus to save your soul from hell.   John 14:6 and Ephesians 2:8.

We can NEVER be "good enough" to get into heaven.

Jesus says to us, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and NO MAN comes to the Father (heaven) unless they come through me first." and - - - For it is by God's grace and mercy that, through your faith in Jesus Christ, you are saved. It is NOT of your own doings, so no matter how good you think you are...you will never make it into heaven on your good works..it is a free gift given by God when YOU accept His son, Jesus as your Lord and Savior...and NO OTHER WAY."

Finally, whether I am out driving in the car...or just in the house...I talk freely to God, the Father.  He wants to be our FRIEND, and He made us so that we can have a relationship with Him.  He loves to communicate with us, and does it through those ways outlined above and here....God is caring, loving, solid...and will NEVER fail us or leave us. He has proven Himself to be trustworthy, reliable, faithful to keep all of the promises He has made to us in His Word...the Bible, so that is why you and I need to get into His Word - daily.  If you put God FIRST in your daily life, He has promised to give you three things which I call "Daily Bread Items", and that is food, clothing and shelter. READ MY FIRST FAVORITE VERSE ABOVE in Matthew 6:33 to see why this makes sense.

God has  PROVEN that He WILL deliver on His promises...when we put Him first in our daily lives...as busy as they may be. So, a half hour out of my day is well-invested when I first seek God in my devotional and prayer time.  I hope you will find this to be true as well.  TRY IT!

This is my prayer sofa in the office. There is the Bible, and my daily bills, and my possibilities for the future, and to the right,. my guitar. God has blessed them all and He is the source for my next breath, my next meal and my next dollar.

On Sundays, I attend church.  Why?  The Bible tells me, in Hebrews 10:25 - "Let us not give up meeting together. Some are in the habit of doing this. Instead, let us cheer each other up with words of hope. Let us do it all the more as you see the day coming when Christ will return."

So, I attend a church that reaches out to people...does not take offerings or "tithes" (always a voluntary, heart thing), and who feeds us food first (Mmmmmm - coffee, muffins, bagels, donuts, orange juice....all FREE) - then we get our "soul food" - the Word of God.  What a church!  I've attended many in my life....some brow beat you with "Legalism"...others are so liberal that they forget what's in God's Word...This church gives me 80% of what I believe, and that's probably as close as I can find to the perfect worship environment on this side of heaven!
